Chief Instructor: Kyosa Nim Steve Lavigne Kyosa Nim Steve Lavigne is the Chief Instructor of the Champaign Illinois branch of the World Hwa Rang Do Association. Mr. Lavigne started his training in 1994 under Master David Kijek in Madison, Wisconsin. After receiving his first Dan Black Sash in 1999, Mr. Lavigne moved to Los Angeles and was an Assistant Instructor at the World Hwa Rang Do Association Headquarters. In 2003, Mr. Lavigne moved to Champaign, Illinois and started the Hwa Rang Do Champaign Illinois Club. In 2006, Mr. Lavigne opened the full-time Hwa Rang Do Champaign IL Academy and in 2007 tested for and received his 2nd Dan Black Sash. Mr. Lavigne has worked in the health care field for over 15 years, is a CPR certified licensed nurse and is committed to spreading the benefits of Hwa Rang Do to the Midwest and around the world.

Our Leaders
Dojoo Nim (Owner of the Way) Dr. Joo Bang Lee
is the 58th generation title holder and the modern day founder of
Hwa Rang Do. He continues to lead Hwa Rang Do from the World Hwa
Rang Do Association Headquarters in Downey California.
GrandMaster Tae Joon Lee is an 8th Dan Black Sash and the Vice President of the World Hwa Rang Do Association. Master Lee is also the head of the West Coast Hwa Rang Do Association Headquarters.
Master Kijek is the head of the Midwest Region for the World Hwa Rang Do Association. He is directly trained by the Founder of Hwa Rang Do, Supreme Grandmaster Dr. Joo Bang Lee. Mr. Kijek began his training in 1979 and is a member of ASLET (American Society of Law Enforcement Trainers). In addition to teaching regular classes, Master Kijek conducts lectures, training seminars and demonstrations around the US and in Mexico.
